Zermatt Music Festival & AcademyNext available date: Thu, 11 Sept 2025
Founded in 2005, the Zermatt Music Festival & Academy is centered around an orchestra and chamber music academy led by the Scharoun Ensemble of the Berlin Philharmonic and dedicated to young Swiss and international musicians. It offers a series of concerts bringing together the academy, the Scharoun Ensemble, ensembles from the Valais and renowned soloists.
The Festival is held every year at the end of the summer and takes place throughout the village of Zermatt, in venues such as the St. Mauritius Pfarrkirche, Kapelle Riffelalp, English Church, Backstage Hotel Vernissage, Matterhorn Museum, as well as at local hotels, the school and the retirement home. The Festival regularly collaborates with other cultural actors in the Valais such as the Pierre Gianadda Foundation in Martigny.
Known for the variety of its program, the Festival offers not only great orchestral works by classical composers, but also lesser-known chamber music, jazz, folk music and cinema.
In order to make its concerts as accessible as possible, the Festival implements an affordable pricing policy. The maximum price of a ticket is limited to CHF 35 and, each year, a quarter of the program is free. For example, audiences have the opportunity to attend the Matterhorn Serenades, a free series of short concerts given on the Church Square.
Come and enjoy this unique experience in Zermatt, where the breathtaking beauty of nature serves as a backdrop to a festive musical program, mixing young talents, inspired teachers and international stars.
