Zermatt Wine Sessions - Valais wine icons: Mercier versus Clavien

An evening with winegrowers Madeleine Mercier and Shadia Clavien, who are shaping viticulture in Valais with an impressive blend of tradition and innovation.
Madeleine Mercier runs the renowned family business in Sierre with her parents Anne-Catherine and Denis Mercier. ‘I take the best of nature and embellish it,’ says Madeleine. Her philosophy is based on respect for nature, which is expressed in the purity of the wines from Domaine Mercier.
Their red specialities Syrah and Cornalin in particular enjoy cult status. Shadia Clavien runs the Domaine Claudy Clavien together with her father. The two have the philosophy of producing dry and elegant wines while respecting the interspecific grape varieties.
